The weekly Ezine for bocce aficionados everywhere
Volume 11, Issue #36 - December 17, 2012
Publisher: Mario Pagnoni Copyright 2012

Hello again bocce fans & Season's Greetings!

This issue we've taken pictures of the new courts at our Methuen Sons of Italy Lodge #902 courts. They, according to Mike Grasser of DaVinci Bocce, are the best in the East (and the only polyurethane courts to boot!).

And Yes, we're soon to be smack in the middle of corporate bocce outing season. If you'd like to host one for team building, a party, whatever, etc., send us an email: .

Grasser and his crackerjack crew of 4 did a bang-up job of building our new courts. Members are signing up from all over the area to join. We've got a function hall, four fabulous courts, and parking. The last touches are putting in our new electronic scoreboards, fencing to protect the onlookers and we'll be ready to roll in January of 2013.

Stay close and always be up front,
Mario Pagnoni (The Bocce Guy)

From Boccemon...

"This is the video that came from last year's bocce tournament. I think it turned out great. Let's see it gets passed around."

Tom McNutt who is a pretty smart guy, hands a copy of my book to his customers. He offered this recently...

"Got the books. The other day when they arrived I was working around the house and heard some people out on my court. I walked out and saw a guy who used to come around in the days I was building the court at my house but who doesn't live in my town and whom I had not seen in many years.

"Your famous", he yelled. "We were down in Napa at a winery and they had a book on bocce and you were mentioned in it". I promptly opened the box you had just sent and handed him one.

"That's the book" he claimed and he accepted the gift as if it was the most precious thing anyone had ever given him. Great timing on delivery."

{What a smart guy that McNutt is - the book is like his calling card!}

From Dr. Cordano...

"Dear Mario: You must already be jumping up and down with your new synthetic bocce courts that our good friend Mike is laying down for your Club enjoyment as well as for the benefit of the many bocce players in your area.

I hope to have a chance to participate in one of your future tournaments, so keep me posted. You know how much I love fast courts.

Wishing you and family a very, very, very wonderful holiday season and a 2013 full of successes in your business, in your Joy…and of course with good health and lots and better bocce!

We are with some manageable problems and we hope to shake them up, in order to be able to be in full swing back into the sport that we love so much.

Note : I still see occasionally discussions about bocce surfaces in your excellent Joy….but I want to mention once more that for outside or inside courts (clay, tennis Har-Tru, or oyster or any combination) the SIMPLE SOLUTION is to put over a decent IN=OUT carpet ($8-12 square yard with a surface that doesn’t present resistance when caressing its surface either way, so the bocce will roll the same from either side).

Before laying down the carpet (no need of any glue) the court surface should be well leveled and hard pressed and be sure of adequate draining (outside ones).

The play quality will be quite similar to that of the synthetic courts and the cost (depending on the size of court could be from $500 to 1200 with an $8-10 sq. yd. carpet).

This is my CHRISTHMAS present to ALL who are willing to play in courts without holes and a faster and even surface that lasts for many years."

{As usual the good doctor makes sense!}

"From the beautiful Sycamore in IL, I'm writing to you to congratulate for the good job you are doing with 'The Joy of Bocce', our members of the 'Bella Vita Bocce Club' enjoy all the interesting articles you publish.

We have in my property a 75'x10' outdoor court with limestone surface that after 8 years is perfectly flat and leveled. We have 15 guys and play every Thursday.
Also since one of the guys has a back problem I designed a 'Bocce Ball Lifter' for him, I have an Architectural and Ornamental Metalwork company - - so this was pretty straightforward for me, in addition I play with a Dell Webb community people - 740 players - and they also started using it with great success, so I decided to offer this product to you to be display in your web site if you think it is interesting.
