Hello again bocce lovers,

Still thinking about launching a Blog. I'll add a few posts and will continue to do so. I think the best part of the Blog is that you can search for whatever old archived issue you are looking for. Up to now it has been difficult to do that. I hope you will enjoy the posts! It might be a while, though. Patience is a virtue!

Stay close and always be up front,
Mario Pagnoni (The Bocce Guy)

Bocce news and readers' feedback...
{Publisher's comments in brackets}

This from Mike Grasser of

"The U.S. Pallino D'Oro finishers were: first place Pat Pezzin, second Eddy DeCillia, third Jason Wisniewski, fourth Jose Botto. Played at Ciociaro Club, Windsor Ontario."

{Click the photo for a better look at the bocce elite!}

Larry Nordgaard sends this note...

"Do you have the names of some of the organizers of tournaments? I would like to contact them and see if they would be interested in having a special needs (Olympics) bracket in the tournament. I am sure I can find delegations in different states that would like to send their athletes to new and different locations to compete. I have 12 athletes that would love to do more than the Special Olympics Texas Fall Classic to compete in. At one time you recommended that I organize a tournament here in Texas but that doesn't really appeal to many athletes here. We would like to travel to the North East or possibly California to compete in tournaments there. Please give my request serious thought and get back to me."

{Sounds like a great idea to me. Once our new Sons of Italy building is completed in January of 2013 you may consider coming to Massachusetts. Any organizers who might be interested, contact Larry at .}

Mike asks...

"Is there any way to get information on the materials used to make the swing boards used at the ends of the courts. I would like to make one for my home court.
Carmine D'Agostino was very helpful in giving me information on how he built his court. Mine is the West Coast version of his.

Larry Cereghino was also extremely helpful when it came to the court surface. I have not been so lucky when it has come to the swing boards."

{Can any expert builders help with this request. First, check out the photo of Mike's awesome court...

Awesome Glo Bocce Light Up Balls - 107 mm

{This set weighs almost 12 lbs. So these are NOT cheap light weight balls. They can be crashed together hard without fear of breaking a ball or the electronics.}

This from Shorty Caruso...

"I'd like to add the Summit Rollers, who have been steadfastly playing these last 7 years. We started on the playgrounds of Summit in a basic court, then moved to present digs at the Rec-Center with a regulation (tournament) construction. We are planning our 1st Invitational next year and would appreciate the publicity, as our plans include playing for charities - Always behind the Pallino, Shorty Caruso."

Bortolin Bocce Ball Lifter / Delucchi Bocce Caddy
You have seen Mike Delucchi's ingenious Bocce Caddy, now view Lucio Bortolin's Bocce Lifter - both are outstanding products!

"From the beautiful Sycamore in IL, I'm writing to you to congratulate for the good job you are doing with 'The Joy of Bocce', our members of the 'Bella Vita Bocce Club' enjoy all the interesting articles you publish.

We have in my property a 75'x10' outdoor court with limestone surface that after 8 years is perfectly flat and leveled. We have 15 guys and play every Thursday.
Also since one of the guys has a back problem I designed a 'Bocce Ball Lifter' for him, I have an Architectural and Ornamental Metalwork company - - so this was pretty straightforward for me, in addition I play with a Dell Webb community people - 740 players - and they also started using it with great success, so I decided to offer this product to you to be display in your web site if you think it is interesting.

Below some highlights of the product:
* Can lift any ball size.
* Can lift the pallino.
* Stands straight up.
* Very light and sturdy.
* Any color upon request.
* Priced at only $48.00
* Free S&H
* If requested, a hook for hanging can be welded to the shaft for $4.00
Attached please find some photos.

My best,
Lucio Bortolin"
