Hello again my bocce friends,

Just when things were looking good for the release of the new bocce edition the publisher threw a curve ball at me.

Ever paranoid, they want verification that the Joy of Bocce logo is mine, that I have permission to reprint the cover photo, and proof that I have permission for all of the book's photographs.

Yes, the logo is mine. I had it created for me by graphic artist Stepahie Karley of Salem, NH and have used it on my web site, letterhead, business cards, and a multitude of apparel for years.

Yes, I purchased the rights to reprint the cover photo and Yes I have permission from everyone who sent photos to me. Still, they are holding me up to verify these permissions. I may have misplaced some of them - I think that woman who lives with me and cleans my office at times may have tossed some of them out.

Anyway, I have requested everyone to re-send the permissions and most are in my possession already. I am still waiting for a few... What a pain!

Stay close and always be up front,
Mario Pagnoni (The Bocce Guy)

Sandro Martignetti sends news of his family's popular and successful charity tournament held each October...

"The Sixth Annual Martignetti Family Charity Bocce Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, October 10 at the Sportszone in Derry, NH. Recipients of this year's proceeds will be the Michael J. Dunleavy Foundation."

About the Foundation:

The Michael J. Dunleavy Foundation was incorporated in the fall of 2002 following the passing if its name sake Michael James Dunleavy, age 8 who succumbed to an inoperable brain tumor which was first diagnosed in the late spring of that year. The Foundation was born out of Michael's own desire to help other children who had cancerous brain tumors or other illnesses. Please visit our 'About me' page to learn more about Michael and watch a video of one conversation that set the wheels in motion. The Michael J. Dunleavy Foundation, Inc. has received tax exemption status under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service. The Foundation is listed as a Public Charity and all contributions are tax deductible.

Florida's George Farruggio says...

"Mario: Mario you do a great job for the game of BOCCE (remember not bocce ball). About bocce courts, I still believe that making new bocce courts should be Concrete with in-door out-door carpet. Not only would you have a great surface to play on, you will always have a surface with ZERO maintenance. Your total expense to keep up the courts is also ZERO. The biggest thing in bocce courts is the up keep - with concrete NO UP-KEEP. We at the Bocce Club of Punta Gorda are hoping to build a third court and you know it's going to be in concrete. Again Thank You for all your hard work."

{George makes a lot of sense. I'm wondering if the balls bounce quite a bit on the carpet over concrete, and is there any kind of subsurface padding?

George replies with "No sub-surface You must put in a very tight carpet. You only get a little bounce when you Volo or shoot."}
