Cleveland International Challenge Cup of Bocce

The annual August event is hosted by Club Molisani with 5 courts (soon to be 8 courts) available for play. Photos courtesy of Wayne Farinacci - 2007 women's division winners pictured above.

The 12' by 60' crushed limestone courts are covered for protection from the elements.

The annual event is held at Mayfield Heights City Park, Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Sponsors are Marshall Ford, Club Molisani, and the City of Mayfield Heights.

The popular tourney features men's and women's divisions.

The event draws quite a following. I think, like in golf, the audience should be called the "gallery".

It just adds to the excitement when the gallery can sit around the court to watch the BIG games!

Yes, lefties can play this game. And they're not relegated to pitch, first base or the outfield like in baseball.

Looks like there's overhead lighting too.

Of course, any strategy depends on the situation, the score, and how many balls remain to be played...but if you are red you might try to "kiss" the green which could send the pallino to your other red. If you are green you might want to lay up against the close red which could give you two points. Any other ideas? Email BocceGuy@JoyofBocce.com .
