Honey Brook Borough Park, PA |
Bocce in the public domain. First, we dig a big hole. (Photos courtesy of Elizabeth and James Nixdorf who petitioned the borough council for the courts.) |
Whenever possible, shoot for two courts. It's awfully tough to run events on a single court. And it doesn't cost twice as much to build two as it does to build a single alley. |
 Consider drainage options. |
You can't have too much drainage. |
"We constructed the courts with a base of nut sized aggregate and then finer material. The finish was called 'Bocce Mix' from a local company, Martin's Limestone." |
Two 12' by 60' courts in the public park - that's what I'm talking about! |
 Lights too! |
Play ball! The borough will get a great return on its investment. The quality of life in a community is tied into its recreational activities. |
Looks like they have ball racks too. |
