The Dante Club |
The Dante Club of West Springfield, Massachusetts (1198 Memorial Ave. - right across the street from "The Big E" - The Eastern States Exposition grounds), features a 76' by 10' indoor stone dust court. |
Just off the club's kitchen and function hall, the court is heated, lighted, and the home of winter league play.
 |
I checked with the bartender who assured me that they don't enforce the "No Children" ordinance. The "play for a buck" message is outdated too. |
Here's the problem with indoor courts with some kind of granite, fines, or stone dust surface. You have to have a way to wet and roll them. Many clubs are going to carpeted courts. They are virtually maintenance free. |
An umbrella in case you have to venture outdoors in inclement weather to the club's second court. The phone is for the call to the bullpen when you need a relief roller. Don't laugh; I watched the North American Championships a couple years back and the Canadians were getting spanked pretty good. The coach brought a new pointer in and he turned the tide, leading his country to the promised land. |
