The Dante Club

The Dante Club of West Springfield, Massachusetts (1198 Memorial Ave. - right across the street from "The Big E" - The Eastern States Exposition grounds), features a 76' by 10' indoor stone dust court.

Just off the club's kitchen and function hall, the court is heated, lighted, and the home of winter league play.

I checked with the bartender who assured me that they don't enforce the "No Children" ordinance. The "play for a buck" message is outdated too.

Here's the problem with indoor courts with some kind of granite, fines, or stone dust surface. You have to have a way to wet and roll them. Many clubs are going to carpeted courts. They are virtually maintenance free.

An umbrella in case you have to venture outdoors in inclement weather to the club's second court. The phone is for the call to the bullpen when you need a relief roller. Don't laugh; I watched the North American Championships a couple years back and the Canadians were getting spanked pretty good. The coach brought a new pointer in and he turned the tide, leading his country to the promised land.
