Beaver Creek, Ohio - Sons of Italy - John Pirelli Lodge #1633 |
A first class set-up for a club or public park. Photos by Gene Kenyo. |
The six courts measure 12' by 60' and are covered with Astroturf. |
Lodge member Mike Longo says the subsurface is crushed rock. |
Looks like the overhangs provide some shade for the players during certain times of the day. |
Longo says that every couple of years they take up the carpet, roll and compact the subsurface, and lay the carpet back down.
 |
 Brick work looks great! |
George Farruggio, who forwarded the photos, has this to say. "You talk about bocce courts, take a look at these. Maintenance required = 0%. Water problem = 0%. All you do on these courts is play BOCCE." |
 Let there be light! |
The venue is a showpiece and a model for others to follow. |
